    Mini Bio

I live in England, not far from Wales. I am the youngest child in my family, with two older brothers. I am extremely close to my older brother as we share a lot in common...even if he is always threatening to tickle me, which I HATE! I'm living in the house that for 14 years has been my home, along with my mum, dad and older brother. I attended school until I was eleven, and then I was educated at home for the next 5 years. I am currently enjoying myself being idle (something I do quite well) and spending my time doing things I like. I play the recorder and can pick out tunes on the keyboard. That's about it. I would love to learn to play the piano properly and maybe the violin. Or the bagpipes!! I've had a few hobbies in the past; glass painting, painting by numbers, silk painting, decoupage, foil painting, rug making and a few others that didn't last very long. The only thing that has lasted is cross stitch. I'm pretty good at it, even if I do take a while because I'm fussy. Of course my other main hobby is graphics making which you can read more about here.

    Random Fact

I am right handed yet, I use my knife and fork as though I am left handed.

    My Hamsters

I currently have two hamsters. My newest one is Binky, who is a male long haired Syrian. I also have 1 male Russian as well. There were orignally a two, but one died. The Russians are the smaller breed of hamster. They are cute, but bite. It's the first time I have ever had Russians....I think I'll stick to the breed I know in future. We got Binky on 26th July 2007 and he is the 5th hamster I have since November 2nd 1999. This was the day my rabbit died and my brother gave me his hamster to cheer me up, and this sparked my love of hamsters. I am very much into promoting the fact that hamsters aren't just creatures to be fed and stuck in a cage with a wheel. All my hamsters have been allowed out daily and in safe areas, they can roam where they want. Each one of them has had their own unique personality and funny quirks. And just by watching their movements, I can tell if they're going to lie down...or suddenly shoot of so I have to run (you wouldn't believe how fast they can go) after them. I know some people don't believe this to be possible, but if you keep an animal locked up, how can you tell what it's character will be like? I have really been blessed with 5 such lovely animals, and I wouldn't swap the experiences I had with them or the memories of them for the world....or Michael Emerson.... :D

    Films

My main passion is films. I really enjoy watching films. I mean really enjoy watching films. I can think of no better way then spending a lazy afternoon watching a film that takes you to another world, another time, another era and just escaping for a few hours. My aim is to try and watch 500 films in one year. The closest I came to this was a little under 400. I ADORE old films. I would say a good 85% of all the films I have seen have been from before 1967. I like modern films as well *coughLOTRcough* but old films are what I spend most of my time watching. I also love reading about films and how they were made. Companions and visual guides are a real treat for me, as not only can I watch the film but I can find out all the details of how it was made. DVD's are great for older films, as not only are films released that haven't been seen for years, but there are usually some excellent features about the films, that tell and show things that we probably wouldn't have got to see or hear about before. The best example of this is the 2 disc special edition "The Philadelphia Story". It contains a documentary about my favourite actress Katharine Hepburn, which was the first time I had ever really seen her as herself. I enjoyed watching the documentary a lot, as it was great to her commenting on her films and her life. I like most genres (with the exception of science fiction). Musicals, comedies, war films and westerns are probably my favourites. I suppose it would be boring and repetitive to say I prefer watching older films to mordern ones. In a way I do, but they both have good things and bad things about them. I think older films, tend to take the audience back to another time, another era. Whereas you watch a modern film set in the present day...that's just it, it's today. And I think all of us like to escape modern life for a little while. My current DVD collection consists of 126 DVD's and my video taped films is probably about the same number.

    Random Fact

I have a touch of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Well when I say a "touch" I mean the first year was absolute hell and although its got better I've never really felt myself since. It all started late 2004 early 2005, and as I've always been a worrier about things, I suppose it was inevitable that I would be become a worrier full time about things like germs and stuff like that. I'm sure it's done me some good but I'm not sure what. The only thing I can say is, I know how Adrian Monk feels in a lot of ways but I'm also glad I'm not that bad!

    Weta

I have collected quite a few things over the years, but my most obsessive collection is my Lord of the Rings Weta busts and statues. The team at Weta teamed up with an American film collectables manufacturer, Sideshow, to make polystone busts, statues, medallions etc of characters, scenes and places from the trilogy. I originally became aware of these items, when the bonus disc which came with the EE of The Two Towers, was dedicated to these collectables. Since then I was hooked and thanks to the powers of Ebay my collection was started and now has grown to 30-odd pieces. My most treasured piece is my Gandalf and Shadowfax statue, which I received for my 18th birthday. I'm already thinking about the piece I would like for my 21st. =)

    Autographs

I got into autograph collecting when I decided I wanted to write letters to some of my favourite British TV actors. I was pretty successful as I even managed to get Alan Rickman's autograph. After this I decided to write to the Lord of the Rings cast. I spent hours combing through the internet looking for addresses that were known to be correct, and then I spent ages actually writing the letters. Overall I sent 12 letters to the cast, and although I only ever received a reply to 3 of them I was more than happy because of who replied. Billy Boyd (my favourite Hobbit actor), Miranda Richardson and my ultimate favourite Lord of the Rings actor - Sir Ian McKellen. I still have all the adresses for the cast, so maybe some time in the future I will write to those who didn't reply, again.

    Random Fact

I use tomato sauce. A lot. With every meal practically. If we eat out, and the place we're at doesn't have any sauce? I is a sad JF. It is a standing joke in our house as to why I don't use it instead of milk in my tea or why I don't have it in soup. I can get through a large bottle in a week easily.
