Avatar Tutorial 01

This tutorial is going to show you how to turn this:

Into this:


Step One

  • Open up PSP and the image you would like to use. Click on your image and go layers -> duplicate.


    Step Two

  • Go colours -> adjust -> colour balance. When the box opens make sure your settings look like this:

    Cyan/Red = 7
    Magenta/Green = 84
    Yellow/Blue = 82

    Then click Ok.


    Step Three

  • Now go Colours -> histogram functions -> histogram adjustment and make sure the settings are like this:

    Edit = Blue
    Midtones Compress = 50

    Click Ok, do the same thing again and when the box appears:

    Edit = Luminosity
    Midtones Compress = -25

    Layers -> merge.


    Step Four

  • Layer -> duplicate.

    Repeat the Luminosity step but this time, make it -10 and then layers -> merge. Then effects -> sharpen.


    And that's it. When you have the colouring you want, you can add whatever you would like to the image. Here is what mine looks like now.
